02 — Preflight checklist

What we check before your file goes to press.

Every print file goes through a full prepress inspection according to professional printing standards. Problems are found and fixed before plates are made — not after the print run.

01

Preflight check

Missing fonts and links, wrong page sizes, color modes and spot colors detected before production.

02

Bleed, trim & crop marks

Correct trim size, 3 mm bleed, safe zones, crop and registration marks and color bars.

03

Image resolution

Images at 300 ppi at final size, so photos print sharp — never blurry or pixelated.

04

CMYK & Pantone spot colors

RGB to CMYK conversion and correctly defined Pantone spot colors for exact brand colors.

05

ICC color profiles

Correct output intent — ISO Coated v2 (FOGRA39), US Web Coated SWOP or your printer’s profile.

06

Rich black & overprint

Black text set to overprint, rich black for large areas — no gaps or registration issues.

07

Transparency flattening

Shadows, glows and blend modes that print exactly as designed, without boxes or color shifts.

08

Total ink coverage (TAC)

Ink limits kept within your press and paper specs to prevent smudging, drying issues and curl.

09

Trapping

Precise trapping for offset, flexo and digital presses to hide plate misregistration.

10

Die cut & cut contours

Die lines and CutContour paths for packaging, labels and stickers, on correctly named layers.

11

White ink underprint

White backprint for transparent, metallic and colored substrates — full or selective.

12

Foil, varnish & special colors

Separate layers for foil stamping, spot UV varnish and embossing, ready for production.

06 — Prepress FAQ

Questions about print file preparation.

What is prepress?

Prepress is every step between a finished design and the printing press: checking and correcting files, managing color, setting bleed and marks, trapping and exporting a print-ready PDF.

What is a print-ready PDF?

A PDF exported to a print standard such as PDF/X-1a or PDF/X-4, with embedded fonts, CMYK or spot colors, the correct ICC profile, bleed and high-resolution images.

What is preflight?

Preflight is the final technical inspection of a print file — fonts, images, color modes, bleed, page size and ink coverage — done before the file goes into production.

Can you rebuild a file from a printed sample or scan?

Yes. We recreate flyers, brochures, forms and packaging from scans or printed pieces, vectorize logos, match fonts and deliver editable InDesign, Illustrator and PDF files.

Which file formats do you accept?

Adobe InDesign, Illustrator and Photoshop files, PDF, JPEG, PNG, TIFF, Microsoft Word, PowerPoint and Excel, as well as scanned documents.
